The same standard that reached a Winter Olympics, on the ground in Truckee

Errol Kerr represented Jamaica in ski cross at the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics, carried the flag at the opening ceremony, and finished 9th — the best Caribbean result in Winter Olympic history. When the racing ended he came home to the Sierra Nevada and put the same preparation, discipline, and refusal to cut corners into a different craft: moving earth.

Today he is an excavation foreman at Ruppert Inc. and the owner of E Kerr LLC, providing GPS-equipped compact track loaders and mini excavators with an operator for residential and commercial site work around Truckee, Tahoe City, Reno, and the greater Sierra. E Kerr LLC is equipment rental and operator services; permitted contracting is referred to Ruppert Inc. Every job is run by the person who is actually on the sticks — no subcontracted mystery crew, no guesswork.

Excavation & grading

Site prep, cut and fill, pad and building-pad grading, and finish grade to plan. GPS machine control keeps the grade honest to the tenth without a grade checker chasing behind the bucket.

Underground utilities

Water, sewer, electrical, and communications trenching, with bedding and compaction done right the first time so nothing settles or fails inspection.

GPS machine control

The compact track loader runs GPS machine-control ready. Design surface loaded, blade to plan — accurate grade with far less staking and rework.

GPR utility locating

Leica ground-penetrating radar to map what is under the surface before the bucket goes in. Fewer surprises, fewer strikes, safer digs.

Drainage & french drains

Perforated pipe, drain rock, and geotextile fabric installed to move water off a site and keep grades holding through a Sierra winter.

Snow removal

Commercial and residential snow removal across Truckee and Tahoe when the storms stack up — the same operator who reads the Sierra weather every morning before mobilizing.

The most expensive mistake in excavation is the one you make blind. Every serious dig starts by knowing what is under the surface — utilities, old lines, rock, voids.

A Leica GPR sweep maps the subsurface first, so the trench line is planned around what is really down there instead of hoping. It is slower up front and far cheaper than a strike, a re-route, or a crew standing around waiting on a locate that should have happened days ago. Careful is faster, in the end.
