    Palisades Tahoe ski day guide

    How Ski Day works
    What is Ski Day?

Ski Day is a free one page guide to a day at Palisades Tahoe. It puts the ski call, live summit and base sensors, new snow, the next storm, lift status, avalanche danger, chain controls and road and resort cameras in one place, built in Truckee on the same eight model engine as errolkerr.com/weather.

Where do the Palisades Tahoe conditions come from?

Live readings come from on mountain weather stations on the Olympic Valley and Alpine Meadows sides, including the Siberia and Ward Peak ridge sensors, plus the Palisades SNOTEL site. Lift and terrain status come from the resort feed, avalanche danger from the Sierra Avalanche Center, and chain controls and road cameras from Caltrans District 3 and NDOT.

How is the ridge wind gust forecast made?

Ski Day forecasts gusts for the absolute summit, the level of Siberia and Ward Peak, from the 700 millibar wind over the crest. Valley model gusts badly undercount ridge wind, so the summit number is what drives the wind hold call.

What does the mid mountain 16 day forecast show?

A blend of the summit and base model cells weighted to about 7,600 feet, with daily highs and lows, snowfall, rain, wind and a ski status for each day: powder, snow, wind hold, hold risk, rain or quiet.

Which cameras are on Ski Day?

More than 100 Caltrans and NDOT road cameras on I-80, Highway 89, Highway 267 and Highway 28, plus Palisades Tahoe mountain cameras. Any camera can be set as the road or mountain hero, and the choice is saved on your phone.

Can I put Ski Day on my phone like an app?

Yes. In Safari tap Share, then Add to Home Screen. In Chrome on Android tap the menu, then Install app. It opens full screen with no app store and no sign up.

Ski Day is new and still being built. Lift and terrain status belong to the resort and can lag; the weather is ours, blended from eight models and checked daily against the Truckee airport. Nothing here replaces the resort's own calls or the avalanche center's forecast.
